    Assistant Director, Donor Support Services       GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsible for providing tactical managerial direction for Support Services areas within the Donor Services department including: Training and Development, Support Services such as Inventory & Equipment Management, Fixed Sites/Mobile Collections support, and Scheduling.     KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:     Must maintain a thorough knowledge of blood bank and related support operations with special emphasis on the collection of safe, pure and potent blood products. Must maintain a working knowledge of and perform within the guidelines of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies. Must have a working knowledge of FDA, ISO, and AABB regulations as well as current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and be competent to answer medical questions, address the concerns of donors, communicate with internal and external customers to include auditing officials. Must be able to articulate and implement sound leadership practices which poise team for success and build a solid support team with donor operations and others throughout the enterprise. Skills: Excellent leadership skills and management skills required to oversee personnel and provide operational and support services direction. Computer skills required (MS Office), SAP, Hemasphere experience preferred. Must be capable of evaluating training and development within department. Must train departmental management on best practices for managing employees. Must ensure all blood products and support services are collected and performed IAW departmental SOPs and cGMPs. Effective leadership skills required to promote teamwork to build/foster an environment that focuses on excellent customer service. Must be capable of operating motor vehicles in all types of weather conditions. Abilities: Must be professional, self-motivated, innovative, creative, assertive, organized, detail-oriented, communicative, and have the ability to work independently. Required to make decisions using discretion and independent judgment. Must keep all information confidential. Must be neat in appearance and well groomed. Must be able to complete reports, plan budgets for multiple site locations, provide accurate calculations, forecast/anticipate future organization needs, and recommend applicable strategies in both verbal and written form to all levels of staff.   PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Functions: Commit to and abide by the character of BioBridge Global’s core values of Respect, Integrity and Excellence (RIE). Provide direction and leadership for Training & Development Staff, Support Services (Scheduling, Stockroom, Administrative) areas within the Donor Services (DS) department. Provide leadership and motivation to assigned DS employees and management. May perform the duties of other departmental management during absence. Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements. Oversee the STBTC support services for special blood collections program to include autologous, directed, and therapeutic procedures. Enforce STBTC and departmental policies and procedures. Participate in the development and implementation of departmental training & development. Evaluate, assess, and monitor assigned employee performance and productivity at or around DS locations. Collaboratively prepare, adhere and monitor the department’s annual budget. Make recommendations to appropriate management level regarding methods for improvement and/or solutions to potential problem areas. Interview and make recommendations for hiring, terminating, promoting, demoting, orienting, evaluating, counseling, and salary changes for assigned departmental personnel. Assist in development and implementation of employee, donor safety, and infection control procedures. Ensure blood drives and fixed site locations are appropriately supplied and prepared for donor operations and other best practice guidelines. Ensure departmental vehicles and other assets are in good working order and compliance. Ensure applicable SOPs are written, implemented and enforced IAW policies. Train, encourage, and support effective customer service with all internal/external customers. Ensure the calibration, validation, tracking, and maintenance of all equipment is current and meets the established operational requirements. Assist in the development of technical and administrative operational procedures. Ensure employees are meeting company goals and performance metrics as assigned by STBTC leadership. Provide prompt and accurate documentation on Quality Improvement Reports. Review scheduling of Donor Services employees to ensure current and future operational needs are met. Conduct appropriate departmental meetings on a regularly scheduled basis. Provide completed reports that demonstrate the performance of Donor Services Support Services (i.e. inventory control, scheduling statistics, training & development statistics). Maintain a close working relationship with departmental management and other departments. Attend meetings, seminars, and other workshops as required. May perform other tasks as assigned.   Nonessential Functions: Provide assistance to other departments as needed or directed.   TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Will sit, stand, walk, climb, and bend during working hours. Requires to reach, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to drive on behalf of the organization. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a well lighted, air conditioned and heated office, but may work in non-climate controlled conditions such as mobile sites. May be exposed to body fluids, blood borne pathogens, electrical, and chemical hazards. Will work extended hours during peak periods. Occasional out of town and overnight stays required. May be required to use personal motor vehicle on company business. May be required to work any time of the day, evening or night during the week or weekend to include being on-call.
