The historic Mission Bell winery was originally founded in 1897 and sits on just under 500 acres in sunny Madera, CA. With just under 400 team members this winery turns out nearly 10 million cases annually, is also the home of our Polyphenolic operation, R&D laboratory, and is the largest crush site at Constellation. The Cellar Supervisor, (1st Shift) is responsible for the direct supervision of cellar staff in routine and complex cellar and cleaning procedures and activities in accordance with winemaking and operational policies, as outlined in the Operating Procedures Manual, to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency and the high quality of all wines produced. Acts as backup in the absence of the Cellar Master. OPERATIONS Supervises and trains cellar workers in the performance of cellar and cleaning procedures, ensuring compliance with all operational policies and procedures Prioritizes, facilitates and supervises all operational activities in all Cellar areas. Implements and ensures compliance with company mandated programs and procedures inclusive of, but not limited to, Safety Programs, Operating Procedures Manual and Training Program, Inventory Tracking and Control, Accident/Incident Reports, and basic budget compliance Facilitates and/or coordinates facility and equipment repairs and issues with the Maintenance Department Ensures that all winery sanitation practices, inclusive of but not limited to, general aesthetics, operational, and storage are adhered to Identifies, researches, communicates, and implements process improvement opportunities for operational efficiencies and wine quality assurance Determines staffing needs in the area assigned and coordinates with other supervisors to maximize labor resources Writes, revises, and updates the Operating Procedures Manual as new techniques and/or equipment are adopted/utilized Assures completion of daily performance reports and process tracking logs, analyzing and recommending improvements based on the data Supports and communicates with all departments influenced by Cellar operations, including, but not limited to, Winemaking, Concentrate, Polyphenolics, Safety, Bottling, Administration, Lab, Maintenance, Human Resources and Corporate Participates in Company and external educational opportunities to enhance job performance and knowledge Maintains knowledge and understanding of hazardous material and safety procedures assuring adherence by subordinate staff Ensures proper equipment use, maintenance, and storage for all cellar equipment and completes equipment-tracking logs Works with site Safety Manager to ensure all mandatory safety programs are up-to-date and ongoing, and staff is in compliance Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned
