Consultant's primary duties include: 75% creation of stored procedures, database design, database schemas, and database development and architecture. 25% of the time will be spent in production support and overall maintenance of the database, enhancement, tuning, and functionality. 6 month contract opportunity.What You'll Do:Promote a collaborative work environment while performing database administration duties on Microsoft SQL (MS SQL) database management systems in support of operations and maintenance of production databases.Essential Functions and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Actively participate on and contribute to IT production O&M teams to implement and support w IT systemsPromote proactive collaboration with project and O&M team members to solve problems effectively and constructively. Work collaboratively and positively with other ITS organizations to deploy projects from the TEST to the PRODUCTION environmentActively demonstrate teamwork and a positive attitude towards teammates and other colleaguesInstall and upgrade new releases of MS SQL DBMS softwarePerform database-tuning activities to optimize performancePerform routine activities, such as adding, modifying and deleting user accounts and profiles/permissionsDefine and implement procedures and processes for backing-up databasesTroubleshoot and resolve database-related problemsDefine and maintain databases, views, tables, attributes, indices and stored proceduresAdhere to established department processes and procedures and assist teammates in ensuring successful deployments to productionRefresh test databases from production as neededMentor teammates as neededMaintain a regular and predictable work schedule (some after-hours/weekends may be required)Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department and the companyPerform other duties as assignedThe ideal candidate will demonstrate:Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to achieve the desired outcome in a positive and constructive mannerStrong technical skills in MS SQL 2008/2012 in both clustered and non clustered environments both physical and virtual hardwareStrong scripting skills, database maintenance and a basic understanding of file systemsAbility to manage/support SSIS/SSRS/SharePoint databasesExperience with AlwaysOn technology (2012), 2014 experience is a plusWhat You'll Need:BS in Information Technology or a related technical field plus 5 or more years experience.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute in a team environmentMS SQL DBMS (Min.
