The Nuclear Medicine PET/CT Technologist is responsible for knowing his/her professional scope of practice as defined by the California Business and Professional Code and for satisfactorily completing the Dignity Health Medical Foundation orientation period that includes demonstrating skills and behaviors that meet a fully competent level of performance. The Nuclear Medicine PET/CT Technologist prepares and administers dosages of radiopharmaceuticals, supplied by manufacturers, to patients in preparation for diagnostic procedures under the direct supervision of the Radiologist and Chief Technologist. The technologist prepares and positions patients for scanning and operates nuclear medicine instruments and imaging equipment, including PET/CT camera. The technologist is responsible for performing radiation safety and quality control procedures, disposal of radioactive materials, and monitoring work area and patient rooms to ensure that the levels of radioactive materials are in accordance with current state regulations. May be required to work in other modalities with appropriate licensure. May be required to occasionally work at other locations within the Greater Sacramento Area as needed REQUIREMENTS: - One year experience as a licensed nuclear medicine technologist; Three years of experience as a licensed nuclear medicine or PET/CT technologist and one year experience as a licensed CT/Radiologic Technologist preferred. - Graduate of an accredited school of nuclear medicine. - Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills are essential. - Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy and physiology for imaging, proper operation of and care of PET/CT scanner, hot lab, and radiation safety is required. - Medical terminology and familiarity with an electronic practice management system and PACS is preferred.
