AK Steel Dearborn Works -- Quality Systems Supervisor Headquartered in West Chester, Ohio (Greater Cincinnati), AK Steel is a world leader in the production of flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, primarily for automotive, infrastructure and manufacturing, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets. The company operates eight steel plants and two tube manufacturing plants across five states: Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Currently, our Dearborn Works facility is seeking a Quality Systems Supervisor. The Dearborn Works is located on a more than 350-acre site in southeast Michigan. Its carbon steel melting, casting, hot and cold rolling, and finishing operations are capable of producing 3.6 million net tons of hot rolled, 2.1 million net tons of cold rolled, 1.1 million net tons of galvanized and galvannealed sheet each year. Responsibilities: Oversees and maintains a certified quality management system to remain an approved supplier to the automotive and other commercial industries. Seek out, research and implement organization quality management tools such as Total Quality Management, mistake elimination and continual improvement techniques. Instruct process operations areas in the proper use of control and analysis methods, including Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Measurement System Analysis (MSA or Gage R&R) and the Pre-Production Approval Process (PPAP) as necessary. Perform planned and scheduled audits to ensure the effectiveness of the quality management system. Identify nonconformance and lead root cause analysis to implement corrective action. Utilize results of audits to ascertain opportunities for improvement and preventive action. Monitor these activities to ensure that they are effective (Plan, Do, Check, Act). Conduct routine meetings to communicate customer requirements throughout the organization and report on current performance relative to these requirements. Advise of any new customer requirements such as quality management systems upgrades, reporting formats and training expectations.
