SummaryThe Sr. ME will support the Mechanical Engineering group in an expert level design capacity. This person will perform all aspects of complex level design activities and serve as a mentor to other engineers and designers within the department. Work is performed under minimal supervision.JOB DUTIESPerforming field work required to gather necessary data and deliver clear and concise field notes.Design of complex process and utility piping systems.Development of detailed and conceptual equipment layoutsKnowledge of plumbing code and design standardsDesign of above ground storage tanks per API 650 including heat transfer calculations for heating coils and insulationDesign and specification of pipe supportsExperienced in PFD and P&ID development.Provide estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate requiredPrepare technical bid documents and review construction bids. The candidate should be capable of reviewing material submittals, equipment submittals and vendor drawings to ensure adherence with specifications.Effectively communicate with a contractor's requests for information during the construction phase of projects.On-site assistance during construction and startupQUALIFICATIONSKnowledge and application of Company and Client engineering design and CAD drafting standards.Calculations including but not limited to: pressure relief valve sizing, pipe sizing, pump sizing, valve selection, steam trap selection, heat transfer, and mechanics of materialsDevelopment of piping material specificationsPipe stress analysis (static and dynamic analysis preferred)Knowledge of HVAC (airside and water side) system application and design codesThe candidate should have knowledge of the following Codes and Standards: ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, Division I, API 650, API 520, API 653, International Building Code, NFPA.Software requirements: CAESAR II, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Project)Software preferences: TRACE 700, Revit MEP, Autodesk Plant 3D, PVElite, TANKEducation: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)Credentials: Registered Professional EngineerExperience: Minimum 15 years of relevant heavy industrial experience with preference given for experience in Pulp & Paper and/or Specialty Chemical industriesManagerial RequirementsAbility to write technical proposals and generate engineering effort hour estimates for potential projects.Ability to manage mechanical engineering scopes of multiple efforts on several projects simultaneouslyManage mechanical group scope of work, budget, and deliverables scheduleLead and mentor mechanical designers and piping designersReview of mechanical and piping drawings, providing clear and concise comments for drawing corrections and revisionsResponsible for inter-discipline coordinationEnsure that the highest level of design quality, integrity and performance are maintained with strict adherence to company policies and procedures.
