Department: Dean of College - 51200Position Summary: As part of the Office of International Programs (OIP) and reporting to the Director of Study Abroad, the Assistant Director of the Study Abroad Program advises students interested in study abroad and assists them with visa processes. The Assistant Director provides logistical and administrative support to faculty and staff in academic departments/programs who currently run summer programs abroad or plan to develop new programs by providing advice on program development and providing support in administering existing programs, including managing the relationships with partner institutions abroad.Provides leadership in marketing and outreach for study abroad programs including providing pre-departure briefings and meetings for all undergraduates going abroad. Serves as the primary resource within the OIP for visa information for outgoing students. Also briefs faculty on health and safety issues in study abroad. Collaborates with the director of the Study Abroad on all aspects of the Study Abroad Program.Leads pre-departure meetings for all students traveling abroad, refreshes and updates the content of the online predeparture website, develops mechanisms for peer-to-peer advising that help prepare students for their sojourn abroad.Also works with the director of the Study Abroad Program on other programming that supports and encourages study abroad.
