Associate Director of Nursing Services implements standards of resident care on a 24-hour basis in the assisted living and Alzheimers sectors of the campus. This position oversees the nursing aspects, directing and evaluating of all Assisted Living and Alzheimers personnel providing direct resident care within the campus. Operates the healthcare components in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the governing body in compliance with federal, state and local regulations, while coordinating nursing service with community agencies, physicians, families, residents, consultants, ancillary service providers, and other departments within the campus and under the direction of the Director of Nursing Services. Must have current state licensure as a Registered Nurse. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Represents the campus in a positive manner while creating an environment that fosters respect and courtesy for residents and employees alike. Works within the campus programs to promote safety and the well-being of all residents and employees. 2. Upholds the campuss Mission Statement. 3. Maintains HIPAA standards and regards all medical or healthcare information pertaining to residents and employees as confidential. 4. Maintains residents charts to include all admission documents, care plans, records of care, and any other documents required by state regulatory agencies. 5. Supervises the recruitment, employment, performance, evaluation, promotion, and discharge of direct care staff within the assisted living and Alzheimers sectors. 6. Operates the assisted living and Alzheimers living areas in compliance with all regulations from federal, state, or any other governmental agencies having jurisdiction over the campus and act as liaison between the campus and regulatory agencies. 7. Implements quality care / service objectives, performance standards of nursing practice for each category of direct care personnel, nursing policies and procedures. 8. Schedules nursing and direct care staffs for the assisted living and Alzheimers sectors including the allocation of job duties, tasks per shift, areas of work, and goals per week, month, quarter, and year. 9. Manages and evaluates all resident care in the assisted living and Alzheimers sectors and initiates corrective action as necessary. 10. Serves on the campus care plan team, assisting in the development of individualized plans of resident care for assisted living and Alzheimers residents. 11. Implements the administration of resident medications, assesses response to medications and treatments and makes appropriate adjustments or recommendations for nursing activity to be implemented. 12. Conducts daily resident rounds and initiates corrective action as necessary. 13. Identifies safety hazards in the workplace and report these to the Director of Nursing Services while issuing corrective action. 14. Participates in and leads staff meetings and implements nursing program policies and procedures in the assisted living and Alzheimers sectors. 15. Manages emergency situations and initiates lifesaving measures in the absence of a physician. 16. Establishes guidelines for economical utilization of supplies and equipment within the assisted living and Alzheimers sectors as well as throughout the campus. 17. Determines level of care by using the current assessment tools endorsed by the campus, under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services and based on physicians recommendations. Keeps resident families informed of changes in resident condition or changes in care considerations. 18. Interacts with the direct care personnel daily, giving clear designation of the days duties. Interacts with other care providers such as the pharmacy, home health and therapy to ensure that the needs of the individual residents are met as well as the goals of the healthcare center. 19. Assures that each incident or unusual occurrence with a resident is documented properly following the guidelines set forth by the institution and applicable with all regulatory agencies. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Occasional travel may be required for training sessions, continuing education opportunities, emergency situations, and other company functions. 2. Responsible for knowledge of fire and safety procedures including those involving blood-borne pathogens. 3. Remains in proper attire at all times and maintains a high standard of appearance. 4. Participates in professional improvement workshops, seminars and meetings which allow continued education on current affairs in healthcare management, resident care and healthcare in general. 5. Participates in professional improvement workshops and seminars to remain current on the state-of-the-art technologies / procedures. 6. Serves in the on-call rotation, both on a regular rotating basis and in emergency situations. 7. Meets with prospective residents and their families. 8. Attends all Quality Assurance meetings. 9. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing Services.
