Title: Lead Network Engineer Job Location: San Jose, CA Job Description: Our customer is seeking a Lead Network Engineer who will lead architecture and design efforts for all customer facing production data center and backbone networks. They are looking for someone who has 7+ years of progressive experience in networking and network security including VPN’s, enterprise routing, L3-7 switching. Responsibilities: Work closely with their R&D, Operations and Engineering teams on next generation features and their impact on the network. Manage the operational design and support of their SAAS network infrastructure and interdependencies for their production networks. Lead architecture and design efforts for all customer facing production data center and backbone networks. Provide input into long-range networking requirements and operational guidelines, with a focus on meeting demands of a rapidly growing and scaling service, with experience delivering network orchestration and automation and also continuing to improve the performance and reliability of the network and the overall service. Troubleshoot network communication problems as they relate to routing and switching Correlate detected network events to identify potential problems or root causes Assist application and system owners in troubleshooting problematic network dependent applications Serve as an escalation point for all network related issues Participate in projects that involve existing network infrastructure Participate in a formal incident rapid response process for high priority incidents Collaborate with the team to insure that an incident’s underlying problems are managed and resolved Be aware of and follow existing network management change procedures Work outside of normal business hours when required (scheduled maintenance, outage response, last minute urgent requests) Deliver network architecture documentation, standards documentation, and all typical design and architecture documentation of all new architecture and design decisions for consumption by engineering, implementation, and operations teams.
