The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Occupational Therapist – Neuro Vision Rehabilitation /  (Job Opening #405971) Ohio State’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Vision Program offers rehabilitation services to those affected by vision loss or impairment. Our services include a variety of tools and techniques to help our patients reach the highest level of function and wellness. Our services benefit patients who are experiencing a visual impairment that is not correctable by standard glasses, contact lenses, medicine or surgery.   Visual impairment may be related to: Neurological vision impairment, Stroke, Brain Injury, Vestibular Issue, Aging, Cataracts, Macular degeneration, Diabetes, Glaucoma, or another illness.  Our innovative rehabilitative team addresses both physical and emotional needs related to vision impairment. We help our patients to learn the skills and techniques needed to improve their abilities at work, home and social settings including driving.    Scope of Position: The Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy treatment to a diverse group of patients.  This particular position will have a focus on Neuro Vision rehabilitation, but may also see other patient populations/diagnosis.  Responsible for the evaluation & development of a comprehensive care plan for all patients.  Functions within a team concept of rehab professionals.  This position could be assigned to other outpatient Rehabilitation departments within OSU. Documents patient’s abilities, progress & outcomes. Provides quality services to an assigned group of patients and performs duties associated with patient care and participation in interdisciplinary teams. Collaborates with various OSU departments/programs including but not limited to: OSU College of Optometry, Opthamology, Neurology, and PM&R.   Rehab services could include (but are not limited to):  -Assessment, Evaluation, and treatment of various Neuro/Ortho diagnosis. Assessment of vision components (pursuits, saccades, eye teaming, clearness, visual field, contrast sensitivity, glare reaction time). -Vision screening by occupational therapist or review of recent vision evaluation: Video and computer technology (screen enhancement or magnification, closed circuit TV), Non-optical strategies (working at closer distances, using natural light, large-print books). -Functional Interventions: Suggestions for modifying home, work and daily routines.  -Optical devices (prescription magnifiers, reading glasses, telescopes, tranaglyphs).
