Quality Assurance/Data Warehouse Specialist

 We have an opportunity for a Quality Assurance specialist to be responsible for ensuring data quality and data correction in a Data Warehouse also to serve as a Data Analyst/Subject Matter Expert for all 3rd party source data. Responsibilities include:  Taking the lead to understand the business concepts and uses behind the data to ensure high quality and integrity. Perform analysis of business and technical functions, and evaluate new data sources. Develops, publishes, and executes test plans on complex projects. Writes and maintains test scenarios and test scripts for both automated and non-automated testing, and coordinates testing and corrections with developers and business users.  Responsibilities  Analysis and Planning  • Lead business and data analyst: understanding the business purpose and context of software applications and the data being tested. • Develops functional specifications and business requirements from users as required. • Develops test plans for complex projects. • Develops additional testing documents based on test plan, such as test scenarios and test cases. • Creates test data to support test execution. • Prepares strategy and scripts for automated test execution. • Plans and sets up test environments to mirror production environment.  2. Test Execution  • Lead quality assurance specialist: working with business clients and project team members to ensure requirements and development standards are met. • Executes test plans and scripts, both manual and automated. • Validates and documents test results. • Makes recommendations to project team, management and business users regarding “quality readiness”. • Performs test environment refreshes. • Adheres to QA and departmental standards. • Participates in project meetings as required. • Maintains the test environment and testing tools.  3. Defect Tracking • Establishes and enforces defect tracking standards. • Documents and tracks data and program defects. • Provides detailed analysis of defects to developers and other project team members. • Works closely with developers and other project team members to resolve open defects, or handles corrections directly.  4. Data Quality  • Lead data steward: understanding the business relationships between data from various sources and can identify problems with data quality and integrity. • Analyzes data quality using direct SQL queries and through Business Intelligence tool reporting. • Corrects data quality defects directly. • Evaluates new data sources to report on quality and completeness.  5. Administration  • Lead and manage all data quality, data analysis, testing, and quality assurance initiatives; producing and managing project plans and timelines for these initiatives. • Proactively laying out a strategic vision for improving data quality across category management retailers and managing this vision through to implementation. • Leads and coordinates testing efforts with other participants (developers, business users). • Manages communication with Project Managers and business users during projects. • Enforces QA standards with project team members. • Communicates plans, status and issues to management on a regular basis. • Adheres to department standards, policies, procedures and industry best practices.  Job Requirements  Knowledge:  • In-depth knowledge of testing methodologies, tools and techniques. • Understanding of the Project and Software Development Life Cycle Methodologies. • Understanding of the concepts behind data warehouse applications. • Familiarity with NT, UNIX and/or Solaris environments.  Skills:  • Proven project management skills. • Strong ability to analyze and process information and data. • Strong ability to understand and translate business needs into technical solutions. • Strong ability to communicate verbally in a clear and concise manner to peers and business users. • Proven ability to work multiple projects simultaneously. • Ability to create clear and concise documentation. • Capable of creating process flow diagrams and flowcharts using Visio or similar charting tool. • Capable of understanding and developing data models.  Experience: • 6 years of experience as data analyst and/or business analyst • 6 years of experience as quality assurance analyst • 6 years of experience testing a variety of software applications, including data warehouse & web applications. • 6 years of experience with intermediate to advanced skills in SQL query language, and with a major RDBMS (i.e. Oracle). • Hands on experience using Business Intelligence tools (MicroStrategy, Business Objects, etc.) preferred. • Entertainment industry experience preferred. • Hands on work with Informatica or other ETL technologies preferred.
