CDI Specialist (Clinical Documentation Improvement/Coding) - Los Angeles, CA 90027 Candidates will be temp to hire after 3-4 months on job Positions are full time working 40 hours weekly. Only candidates whose end goal is a permanent position will be considered as these positions are being opened to fill vacancies. Qualified candidates will be responsible for completely closing a chart from start to finish - BOTH coding the case and CDI. CANDIDATES WILL BE CODING THE CHART TOO The Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDIS) reviews medical records on a concurrent and retrospective basis to code the case and improve overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation of patient records: Coding: The coder shall abstract clinical information from a variety of medical records and assigns appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT codes to patient records according to established procedures. Reviews charts along with other documents in order to assess the quality of information, to abstract data and to prepare reports and summaries of abstracted information to ensure quality data. CDI: Works collaboratively with clinicians to ensure that clinical information in the medical record is present and accurate and provides training and education as needed. Works with the coding staff to provide guidance to ensure that appropriate clinical severity is captured for the level of service rendered to all patients. The CDIS will also perform focused reviews at the discretion of the Manager. Current state licensure as coding specialist, registered health information administrator, and/or registered health information technologist Effective interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of hospital personnel.
