Job Summary: This position is responsible for leading efforts to ensure the Mission, Vision and Core Values of CHI Health are integrated into the structures, policies, programs, and practices in the Director’s assigned ministry areas (The three ministry areas are Grand Island/Kearney, Lincoln/Nebraska City, and Omaha/Council Bluffs.)  The Director plays a key role in shaping the culture of the local ministry organizations; a culture grounded in the Core Values of Reverence, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence and expressed as spirituality reflective of the faith traditions on which CHI Health was founded.  The Director is an integral member of the local leadership team. The Director brings value to the organization through focused work that achieves success in the CHI Health strategic areas of Mission Integration, Pastoral Care, Workplace Spirituality, Healthy Communities and Ethics. The Director also provides leadership for the Pastoral Care department. The Director is an advocate for the CHI Health commitment and strategy for healthy communities and collaborates with local CHI Health leadership to address the Healthy Community goals of the organization. The Director represents CHI Health in local healthy community efforts. The Director is a key partner with the Senior Vice President of Mission Integration in Diocesan relations and Sponsor issues. The Director is responsible for carrying out a program which integrates the spiritual and emotional component of patient care and staff support consistent with the philosophy and objectives of CHI Health.  The Director assists in maintaining a spiritual atmosphere for patients, medical staff, employees and others associated with the ministry.  This atmosphere reflects CHI’s Mission and Core Values and a concern for life, human dignity, respect for privacy, religious convictions, and the distinctive rights of individuals.  This job reports to the Regional Director of Mission Integration. Essential Duties: Exemplifies the Spirit of CHI Health to employees and the public.  Understands, promotes and interprets the Mission, Vision, and Core Values. Works to shape a distinctive culture grounded in the Core Values of Reverence, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence and expressed in spirituality reflective of the faith heritage of CHI. Creates an environment that encourages pride and ownership in the mission. Responsible for an integrated department of Mission and Pastoral Care that delivers standardized, best practice services across all patient care settings with highly engaged and professional chaplaincy staff and that reflects organizational wide direction.  Assures the integration of spiritual assessment and pastoral care responses with interdisciplinary processes and treatment planning across the continuum of care. Responsible for appropriate management practices to assure that employees are fully engaged and that appropriate staffing levels, competency assessment, quality monitoring, staff orientation, ongoing quality education and development in all areas of responsibility are achieved. Coordinates efforts with Regional Director for Mission Integration for staff and community education in the areas of spirituality, pastoral responses and ministry identity, including mission formation for members of the management teams. Coordinates efforts with the Supervisor of the Ethics Center for staff and community education in the areas of ethics, ethics consultations, patient rights and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services. Provides orientation and in-service programs for employees regarding the CHI Health mission, values, pastoral care service, workplace spirituality, ethics program, and community benefit goals and efforts. Represents CHI Health Mission Integration Division at various meetings and committees as needed such as Ethics Committees, Mission Integration Committees, Employee Engagement Committees and Celebration Planning Team. Participates as a member of Community Benefit or Healthy Community Advisory Teams to ensure community benefit and healthy community is established and implemented according to CHI Health goals. Hours: Exempt 40 hours, Monday-Friday 8-4:30pm
