Closing Date: May 24, 2015 Excelsior College, a regionally accredited, virtual, private, nonprofit institution of higher learning is seeking dynamic applicants for the position of IT Security Administrator in the Office of Information and Technology Services. The IT Security Administrator is responsible for coordinating the design and implementation of security solutions for the information technology infrastructure at Excelsior College. Summary The IT Security Administrator will provide and maintain a security architecture/plan and will disseminate this plan to those responsible for the configuration, operation, integration, and maintenance of network, computer, application, and self defending tools such as routers, firewalls, DMZ’s, intrusion prevention systems, virtual private networks, vulnerability scanners, and anti-virus applications. This is a cross functional position that will report to the Assistant Vice President for Information Technology. The successful candidate will also work very closely with the Executive Director, Information Security. This is a full-time position with benefits based at 7 Columbia Circle Albany, New York. On call duties may require a flexible work schedule from time to time. Responsibilities Build project plans and strategies to support information technology security. Provide technical support and guidance on program products in support of existing security policy. Review and analyze information provided from self defending network tools and other internal protection devices. Provide detailed audit log analysis for firewalls, network and intrusion prevention, operating systems, and application logs. Implement standard information security procedures to provide security statistics to analyze/report trends and vulnerabilities and provide appropriate documentation. Utilize industry-standard security best practices and policies to conduct detailed vulnerability assessments and implement recommended security safeguards to protect all Excelsior College assets. Design, document, implement, and assess information security policies. Monitor and identify security incidents using intrusion prevention systems, firewalls, and other monitoring systems where applicable. Participate in security risk and vulnerability assessments and address immediately any risks that would pose a significant threat to the College. Assist in the review, implementation, and maintenance of IT security technology and best practices, including password management. Conduct routine testing of security tools and applications. Conduct audits across multiple platforms, authentication sources, and identify security issues as discovered.
