Under the general direction of the Team Supervisor, the Insurance Follow-up Representative is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of appeals. This requires a thorough understanding of often complex contracts (including transplant), third-party payer requirements and in-house computer applications for billing/accounts receivables. A significant degree of independent judgment and decision making is required.QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent• 2 - 3 years insurance billing experience preferred• Ability to solve problems effectively• Excellent written and oral communication skills• Strong organization skills and effective interpersonal skills• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT-4 and ICD-9 coding preferred• Ability to work independently• Knowledge of insurance rules and regulations and knowledge of Managed Care contracts• Knowledge of patient account policies and procedures related to in-patient and out-patientphysician billing, follow-up and collections• Knowledge of payers, and a thorough understanding of the processes and payment practices• Ability to calculate fractions, decimals and percentagesScheduleThis is a 40 hour per week position.
