The Investment Accountant Lead position maintains integrity of investment accounting information and systems, in accordance with standards and rules under GAAP, as well as other regulating agencies. Reconciles, analyzes and synthesizes investment and financial data from departmental investment management operations. Provides investment data for use in producing public financial statements, including balance sheet, income statements, SEC filings, Department of Insurance reports and other regulatory reports. Executes investment accounting policy and procedures and participates in internal and external audits.* Performs most complex accounting activities to maintain complete and accurate investment accounting system * Prepares financial statements and reports to regulating agencies; including SEC, Department of Insurance and other regulatory reporting agencies * Provides direction, advice and training to staff accountant * Assists with internal and external audits * Assists with special projects including process improvement initiatives * Plays key role in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process * Supports corporate, statutory, tax and other accounting departments in preparation of financial statements and reports * Reconciles accounts and financial records to custodians and general ledger; creates reports as necessary
