ABOUT THE BUSINESS: Key Enterprise Risk Management provides leadership on risk management strategies and initiatives for credit, market, compliance and operational risk, as well as portfolio management, quantitative analytics and asset recovery activities. This is a position within the Key Community Bank (KCB) Risk, Controls and Compliance organization. This position is primarily responsible for assisting the KeyBank Mortgage line of business with the identification, measurement, and management of risk; development and implementation of sustainable controls; and development or maintenance of effective risk management policies and programs, reporting, training and testing to fulfill KCB’s strategic objectives while operating within defined risk appetite. Additional responsibilities include providing risk, control and compliance advice / consultation on current and emerging risks impacting KeyBank Mortgage; promoting LOBs accountability for the awareness and management of risk; and coordinating the management and escalation of issues. This position will also engage and consult with corporate risk management partners across risk disciplines to develop and implement consistent risk management standards and processes across KCB LOBs. The candidate will direct the work of other risk analysts and will regularly negotiate with outsource vendor partners and interface with regulatory examiners. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS College degree or equivalent with emphasis on business and risk management. Minimum 5 or more years of banking industry knowledge with experience in one or more of the following: compliance, audit, risk management, LOBs, or management. Mortgage industry knowledge strongly desired.Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple high level projects and competing priorities with little supervision. Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, build and manage relationships, and work in a dynamic, fast paced team environment.Proficient use of personal computers including use of Microsoft Office and various web-based software applications and databases.Proven analytical and problem solving skills, decision making and ability to drive continuous improvement. Solid written and communication skills and ability to “sell” difficult/complex concepts.Demonstrate team work and accountability with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with external and internal clients including executive managers, along with building and sustaining collaborative relationships.Good knowledge of retail, private and commercial banking businesses and processes, and related federal and laws, regulations and guidance. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provide overall direction and guidance on the development and implementation of risk and control self assessments and related risk profiles, including the design of the risk, control, test and risk metrics design in accordance with corporate standards. Monitor quarterly assessments of testing, control effectiveness, residual risk, risk metrics and encourage proactive identification of weaknesses and/or control gaps, while supporting sound recommendations to address control gaps. Provide direction and oversight for the completion of the quarterly LOBs risk profile including collecting of information, drafting content, identifying key risk topics and points of interest, facilitating review within the LOBs and corporate risk management, along with obtaining senior executive approval. Monitor, and provide guidance on findings, remediation plans, and exception requests, escalating risks and issues outside of risk appetite, as applicable Work with Risk Analysts and LOBs to facilitate understanding of risk management requirements for new business/product initiatives, product/process changes, customer complaints, losses, customer facing materials, regulatory changes/guidance and vendor/third party activities. Provide guidance to LOBs with implementation of risk management policies, programs and procedures by leading projects, reviewing documentation, and/or ensuring engagement of appropriate stakeholders to fully implement requirements. Provide overall monitoring and oversight of LOBs risk, control and compliance activities, along with periodic reporting to senior management and risk review and regulators. Assist LOBs in the management of internal audits and external exams. Coordinate pre-regulatory exam preparation activities; collect and track information requests; facilitate responses to findings; validate remediation plans are appropriate, resolved timely, and corrective actions implemented prior to closure; along with providing periodic updates to management. Actively engage with LOBs and corporate risk management partners to understand and assess risks across LOBs and standardize risk management processes and reporting. Recruit and develop high performing Risk Analysts to support LOBs risk, control and compliance activities, along with mentoring, setting priorities, directing efforts and monitoring employee performance, as applicable. Build and sustain positive working relationships with corporate risk management, legal and LOBs executives, managers and teams, while developing an understanding of the business and strategic objectives. Design and execute supplementary reviews and assessments as warranted to proactively identify risks and/or maintain control design/monitoring sustainability. Assist in the scoping, development and delivery of LOBs specific risk related communications and compliance training, leveraging cross functional knowledge of upstream and downstream processes.
