UNC Health Care Hillsborough Campus is a brand new community hospital which is an extension of UNC Medical Center focusing on many of our elective surgical programs. These programs are Joints, Spine, Ophthalmology, Urology, Benign Gynecology, and General Surgery. The 68 bed facility will combine a community hospital culture with the innovative procedures and care for which the UNC Medical Center is known. The Hillsborough Campus will include the Medical Office Building, Emergency Department, Outpatient Surgery and Inpatient Services, as well as support services to provide integrated, convenient and patient-centered care. Operational Leadership & Supervision – Responsible for significant division or area of the Hospital Police Department. Builds, motivates, and leads a professional team attuned to UNC Medical Center culture, is responsive to needs, and committed to integrity and excellence. Manage workflow and staffing that best serves the medical center and or any call for service. Mentors and coaches security staff in all areas of responsibility. Understand police culture and integrate it into the health system. Operate as a serving leader throughout the enterprise. Recognize and have situational awareness of systemic internal issues that may impact employees with regards to matters affecting work productivity. Understand unusual behavior with staff members and identify early warning signs requiring EAP or other interventions. Relationship Manager – Develops, influences, and nurtures positive, trust-based relationships with Medical Center leaders, supervisors and other internal and external customers of the Hospital Police and Transportation Department including, but not limited to the ED, Psychiatry, Legal, Risk Management, Nursing, Employee Relations and outside law enforcement and other public service agencies. Policy Development and Subject Matter Expert – Takes initiative to develop expertise in assigned areas of responsibility (standards, guidelines, best practices and professional literature etc…). Provides subject matter expertise for assigned areas of responsibility. Advocates for, and informs trains and educates departmental staff and others on subject matter elements. Develops and maintains up to date departmental and hospital / Health Care System (Administrative, Human Resources, Hospital Police, etc…) policies and procedures for areas of responsibility. Budget – Maintains knowledge of budgetary requirements for areas of responsibility and assists in budget development and management throughout the fiscal year. Manages areas of responsibility within allocated budget. Goals - Assists Chief and Director in establishment and completion of goals and objectives in support of and complementary to the Health Care System goals and goals. Creative Problem Solver – Aids competitiveness and adds value by contributing dynamic, real-time critical thinking and solutions that enable the organizational to “prevent” disruptions from occurring and minimize damage when they do occur. Risk Manager – Identifies, analyzes, and communicates on business and security-related risks to responsible department heads, the Chief of Police and or Director. Recognize and eliminate unsafe practices and security vulnerabilities. Report safety and security vulnerabilities to the appropriate department head or manager. Physical Security Design and Implementation – Develops and implements security design and physical security standards for the UNC Health Care. Participates in design and development of new construction and renovation projects ensuring professionally recognized security design elements are considered, designed in, and implemented by architects and project managers. Departmental Information Services and Technology Administration – Provides overall leadership and administrative support for functions including: Integrated Security Systems (access control, CCTV, RFID, and communications systems); Report writing software; Computer Assisted Dispatch software; Parking Management software; Fast Pass, and other special purpose software i.e. Corel Draw, OneNote, Adobe Premier, Correlate, etc. Provides leadership in selection, implementation and management of departmental computer software and hardware assets. Advises Department Director and ISD leadership on security technology opportunities and concerns affecting the UNCHCS. Establish goals and manage resources to improve effectiveness and transparency of security systems. Accommodates appropriate new technology while capitalizing use of existing equipment. Training & Instruction- Provide training and maintain Instructor Certification and knowledge in the following topic areas: Use of Force laws for police and civilian application, Physical controlling and restraining techniques, Pepper Spray, Taser and Impact Weapon. Trains other department staff members on forensic analysis of CCTV, biometric devices, and other physical security systems. Forensic Analysis – Maintains proficiency with forensic analysis techniques relating to all security systems. Conducts forensic analysis for officers and investigators and others when necessary to assist in criminal and or civil investigations. *LI-MM2
