Senior Financial Analyst, Decision Support   Prestigious Boston Teaching Hospital       The Confidential Search Company is an executive recruiting firm with over 25 years of experience specializing in the placement of healthcare administrative and financial professionals.We have been engaged to conduct an exclusive, executive search for a Senior Financial Analyst, Decision Support for our client, a prestigious Boston teaching hospital.   The starting salary is up to about $98k, depending on background and experience. There may be some flexibility for an exceptional candidate. Relocation assistance will be considered as appropriate. The Senior Financial Analyst, Decision Support will report to the Manager of Decision Support and will develop and maintain patient level cost accounting data and prepare and interpret financial and statistical information. The Senior Analyst will function as an internal consultant, evaluating new programs and performing cost-benefit analyses, projections, reports and presentations. They will produce service line profitability reports. They will also prepare in-depth analyses using advanced report writing skills and will serve as a resource to operational and clinical administrators and managers to support organizational decision-making and strategic planning activities. The Senior Financial Analyst, Decision Support will assist in the database management of the decision support system as it relates to data integration and system maintenance. The Senior Financial Analyst, Decision Support will: •         Create new reporting using the new decision support system •         Provide cost and revenue data demonstrating the financial contribution of specific services; including identifying data sources, data review and validation •         Create data feeds and develop algorithms to support calculation of both costs and revenues •         Help to lead the development of RVU-based costing methodology. Work with individual departments to calculate hospital based RVU values for specific services and procedures, to facilitate more accurate and detailed costs and profitability •         Work with Managed Care, Reimbursement, and Revenue Integrity to calculate the revenue associated with specific services. Develop revenue allocation methodologies for payors that use SPAD and PAPE payment system •         Participate in the development of service line profitability reports. Creates and distribute reports •         Provide training to end users to run reports and interpret results •         Meet with department managers, chiefs and others to help them understand the information presented •         Create new reports and analyses as needed, including development of reports to support ACO management, managed care contracting, and business planning for proposed new services •         Support development of financial models and business plans for new program proposals •         Complete ad-hoc financial analyses, special reports and other duties on behalf of the CFO, Director of Financial Planning and Manager of Decision Support     Requirements   We are looking for experienced healthcare financial analysts with strong technical skills, good business sense, and strong communications skills. The Senior Financial Analyst, Decision Support will be involved in fine tuning the new decision support system, creating and distributing reports, maintaining and building the appropriate databases, and enthusiastically sharing the information with administrators and managers and assisting them in making better business decisions.   •         Bachelor’s degree in a related field (MBA preferred) •         5 to 7 years of previous experience in financial analysis, cost accounting, budgeting, accounting or planning function in a healthcare related setting. •         Very strong financial analysis skills and strong analytical skills •         Ability to independently produce clear financial analysis regarding complex issues •         Experience translating and communicating key analyses and assumptions in a concise fashion to Senior Management for decision making purposes •         Advanced skills and experience using Access, Excel, and PowerPoint. •         Experience with EPSI is a plus •         Motivated, self-starter who is interested in learning new things •         Experience with application systems and the ability to train others. •         Excellent communications skills and the ability to provide an impromptu presentation on a project as needed. •         Knowledge of healthcare finance and delivery systems preferred This is a highly visible position and will be a resource for department chiefs and will work closely with the leadership in both financial and clinical areas.
