Position summary Responsible for maintaining the general accounting process as well as assists in administering financial aid programs according to Federal, State, Accreditation, and Institutional policies and guidelines. Primary/essential duties and responsibilities Abide by generally accepted accounting principles and internal procedures and controls to protect and preserve the Company’s assets. Complies with all Federal, State, accreditation and institutional policies and procedures. Assists in interpreting Federal, State, accrediting agency, and institutional regulations, policies and procedures. Manage federal work-study verification process, verifying timecard accuracy with payrolls labor distribution report, effectively communicate with each campus’ director of student financial services to resolve issues, using excel construct a disbursement roster. Process institutional loan payment and chargeback (default) transactions. Oversee loan cancelation and reduction requests and timely communicate all request to the liaison for the respective loan servicing entity. Evaluate student eligibility for financial aid disbursements,  and if necessary submit refund requests to student financial services for any ineligible funds. Process credit balance and student/agency refund checks. Review and process student debt letters as well as any refunds to Department of Veterans Affairs; reconcile VA transactions. Respond to campus personnel regarding student accounts and refund transactions in a timely manner. Record, monitor, and report financial activity. Monitor and ensure accuracy of 90/10 position. Bank reconciliations. Prepare account analysis. Verify accuracy of general ledger. Provide data to auditors and tax accountants and other third parties as needed. Special projects and other duties as assigned.
