Job Description As an Intern, you report to the Senior Accountant. You will be helping to maintain corporate transactions and reconcile selected accounts reflected in the Company's General Ledger on a timely basis. The Accounting Intern will perform research to ensure accuracy and make adjustments as necessary. The Accounting Intern may also assist the accounting staff with SOX controls and reporting requirements to ensure they are properly executed. ResponsibilitiesAssist in the preparation of General Ledger Journal entries during the month-end close.Assist in accurate and timely internal reporting during the month-end close process.Assist in the maintenance of account analysis/reconciliation process. Help to ensure that all account analysis/reconciliation procedures are followed.Process must include adequate documentation such as account reconciliation summary and documentation of accounting entries for manager/supervisor review.Assist with ad-hoc analysis requests from client groups in finance and other functional areas.Assist in the preparation of assigned schedules that are included in the monthly Management Report binder. Requirements 1) Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, & abilities Functional Competencies: Must understand basic accounting conceptsKnowledge of Excel, 10 Key and TypingAdequate quantitative skillsAptitude and willingness to learn new accounting systems. Interpersonal Competencies: Adequate written and verbal communication skillsProvides high level of service to business partnersWorks with a sense of urgency and efficiencyTakes ownership for all assigned areas of responsibilityPromotes feedback and appropriately escalates issues / conflicts to manager/supervisor.Stays on project schedule and estimates/manages time efficiently and effectively.Flexible, organized, and able to handle competing priorities.Must be able to multi-task during monthly close processesAble to adapt and contribute to organizational change in a fast paced environment.Leadership Competencies: Demonstrates maturity and integrity.Strong follow through skills2) Minimum educational level: This position is open to all students pursuing a business-related degree. Preference will be given to students pursuing an accounting degree or a business administration degree with an emphasis in accounting.
