ABOUT THE FACILITY Sturgis Hospital (SH) is a private, 501(C ) 3 hospital, governed by a 12 member self-perpetuating Board.  Staffed  beds = 49 with an ADC = 12.  In addition to regular services, SH offers a wound clinic, pain clinic, occupational health, OB and an employed physician network. There are 30 active physicians on staff and another 100 in consulting/courtesy roles.  Gross patient revenues = $95 million, net patient revenues = $44 million with A/R days = 50 (gross) and bad debt 3.5% of GPR. FTE’s/adjusted occupied bed: 4.9. Accounting software utilized is Meditech. The local school system is highly rated within the state. The city has a multi-functional adult recreation center and a 1,000 seat capacity city auditorium to host various cultural events.  St. Joseph County has the most lakes of any county in Michigan and provides many opportunities for boating, fishing and other outdoor activities. Community websites include: www.sturgismi.gov. and  www.sturgischamber.com THE OPPORTUNITY As a critical member of the management team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer will provide expert counsel and direct the fiscal operations, provide clear, concise financial information, and make sound, educated, economic decisions for the hospital. The CFO is responsible for all day-to-day administration of the general accounting, patient business services, including third-party reimbursement, financial and statistical reporting functions of the hospital in accordance with established policies and accounting procedures. The CFO assists the hospital’s governing board and CEO in the development of long and short-range hospital operations plans, which may include service demand analyses, resources availability analyses, and cost benefit analyses of proposed capital and staff expansions. With governing board oversight and participation, the CFO develops long and short-range operational and capital budgets, which are supported by the hospital’s long and short-range plans and objectives.
