To be considered for the position, please (1) upload your resume, (2) complete the application in its entirety, and (3) answer the screening questions. Summary:  Under the direction of the Acute Care Manager, the Acute RN coordinates, implements and documents patient care based on through systematic pre, intra and post dialysis assessment by performing the following duties: Responsibilities:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Includes but not limited to (other duties may be assigned) the following:Performs and provides documentation for pre, intra and post dialysis physical assessments of the patients conditionAssists the Acute Care Manager in assigning duties and coordinating dialysis treatments.Initiates, monitors and terminates dialysis treatment in accordance with the Acute Care  policies and proceduresAdministers medications by prescribed route and provides documentation of administration and result of medication administeredPrepares and monitors the hemo dialyzer and hemodialysis machine and performs the required quality control checksCoordinates with the Acute Care Manager and Technical Manager the maintenance and repair of all dialysis related equipment.Obtains ordered pre, intra and post dialysis laboratory specimensReviews lab reports, identifies problems and reports to Acute Care  Manager, as requiredAssists the Acute Care Manager in maintaining and stocking inventory of the acute unit.Knowledgeable of ordering medications and supplies needed to efficiently operate the Acute Unit.Assists the Acute Care Manager in writing and implementing proper procedures for use in the Acute Care Unit.Knowledgeable of and utilizes the occurrence reporting system in accordance with DCI’s Risk Management ProgramAssists in QA audits as indicated by the QA Program for the Acute Unit and participates in monthly QA/Administrative meetings required.Maintains emergency preparedness procedures including CPR certifications, fire drills, emergency power failure and routine check of emergency cart suppliesDaily review of patient flow sheets for completeness, appropriateness and accuracy of documentationReviews and documents patient education as necessary, in order to ensure compliance with ESRD Network regulatory agencies, DCI’s CQI Program and the individual Acute Care Unit requirementsReviews consent forms and the Acute Unit  patient policies and procedures upon the admission of new patients and obtaining signatures as requiredPerforms all procedures associated with the administration of blood and blood productsCompletes the quality control check for the emergency cart and emergency kit, as assignedPerforms initiation, termination and catheter care for patients with subclavian and perm-cathetersParticipates in administrative and staff programs, as required.  This includes, but not limited to, attending staff meetings, in-services and meetings such as CQI.Transcribes and implements physician ordersActively supports and promotes appropriate attitudes and loyalty to managementMaintains a clean and orderly work environmentKnowledgeable and able to implement safe and effective infection control procedures in accordance with the Acute Unit policies and proceduresKnow and practices procedure procedures related to hazardous waste disposalMust be able to recognize and respond to emergency situationsKnowledgeable and able to implement emergency, fire and disaster protocolsAssists in the teaching and training of new staff members as directed and supervised by the Education Coordinator, the Acute Care  ManagerFulfills on-call responsibilities as scheduled including daily checking of proper beeper operation
