This role Downtown and is being filled on a direct-hire, permanent basis., The company is nationally and internationally recognized, open-minded, technology oriented travel company specializing in travel to Italy since the late 1990's. The company realizes the fairytale trips of travelers worldwide with offices in Chicago, New York, Italy, Shanghai and Russia. As a Developer within our team you will assist with all aspects of web development, including requirements definition, design (information architecture), coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. Our web system includes full-custom sites (HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, AJAX, MySQL, jQuery, etc.), CMS and various internal web applications. Strong PHP programming skills and MySQL experience are essential. This role would involve 80% back-end development and 20% front-end development. You will have three team members: two peers and your direct report, the Lead PHP Developer. Projects vary from small to large and can last up to a day or 6 months. Responsibilities include: - Assisting with other departments to define scope, goals, and timing - Assist with the management of project scope - Organize and prioritize your projects and daily tasks - Track and report your project milestones - Be accountable for your IT project results - Clear communication skills - Resolve any issues and solve problems throughout the project life cycle - Implement best practices for coding and project management - Proactively participate in IT development Essential Qualifications: - 1-3+ years' experience in PHP Development - Enthusiasm to learn new things - Quick to pick things up - Solid back-end PHP, MySQL experience, and/or can demonstrate a quick ability to learn what needs to be gained to do the role - Able to act as a team player, but work can well autonomously without much direction Benefits that will set you apart from the rest: - Demonstration of good front-end ability (or a visual passion to grow that skill-set) (HTML, CSS, Javascript, wire-framing, etc) - A keen eye toward good design would go a long way!
