Job is located in Des Moines, IA. CLIENT Our Executive Search client is a well-known publically held multi-billion dollar company. POSITION PURPOSE Provide focused leadership to 2000+ employees in multiple Product Distribution Centers striving for world class order fulfillment capabilities that will continue to foster the company's reputation as an industry leader.  Oversee and develop all operational functions of the distribution centers including process/lean engineering and parts receiving, staging, picking, packaging and shipping.  Increase corporate sales revenue through the provision of efficient and value-added order fulfillment processes. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Provide visible “hands on" leadership to various location leaders assisting them in developing a workforce that is highly focused, efficient, improvement-oriented and motivated for success. Develop a metric based reporting system that will provide daily visibility for executive staff on distribution operations. Ensure there is effective communications and  operational objectives and plans to the director labor workforce, ensuring that all employees have a common understanding of the strategic direction and whether they are making measurable progress toward common objectives. Establish a continuous improvement plan that will lead to a leaner and more efficient operation, resulting in more profitable business practices while increasing customer satisfaction levels. Work closely with Information Technology group to automate manual functions and increase order fulfillment efficiencies across the operation. Work as an effective corporate liaison with sales/customer service, purchasing, accounting and other functional areas to maximize order fulfillment efficiency and company profitability. Assume responsibility for the layout of company order fulfillment facilities as well as the company’s off site warehousing locations.  Organize and combine all warehousing sites to accomplish order fulfillment objectives. Ensure ISO (quality) and OSHA (safety) compliance. Create metrics to ensure that long term performance can be measured and improved.  Lead safety councils and committees. Work with HR to create a training infrastructure to maximize employee learning and success while simultaneously reducing training costs and improving retention. Partner with HR in handling employee relations issues in a consistent manner and suggest policy modifications to maximize employee performance. Create and implement a dynamic leadership development plan for Distribution site leadership.
