POSITION PURPOSE: The Deli Manager is an enthusiastic leader who serves as a model for extraordinary customer service and supports the company guiding principles through all duties performed within the position. The Deli Department Manager is responsible for all conditions of the Deli department including but not limited to financial planning and results, sanitary conditions, product quality and presentation. Oversees and supervises Deli Department Associates and operations within the Deli. BASIC DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure that customers experience excellent conditions when visiting the deli, receive a greeting when entering the deli area and are able to find what they need. Treat all associates, supervisory team, vendors and customers with dignity and respect. Exhibit positive attitude in working with direct reports and other members of management. Maintain solid communications with the management team and associates in the store. Provide recognition of accomplishments when appropriate. Conduct performance reviews for associates alongside the Store Manager. Coach for success, including offering constructive coaching and corrective actions when necessary. Communicate employee relation issues to Store Manager and/or HR when appropriate. Organize and prepare staff schedules for the department. Report to shifts when scheduled and arrive on time. Demonstrate knowledge of Deli Department Manager job duties, equipment and products. Possess and utilize ability to develop others. Manage and lead staff in Deli Department. Monitor product movement to control inventory. Inspect and track damaged, out-of-date or spoiled merchandise and maintain shrink log. Ensure stock is rotated and department is maintained to company and health standards. Exhibit efficiency and productivity through accuracy of work, completing assignments in timely manner and prioritizing to meet goals. Ability to work at a fast pace while multitasking. Assist in special projects and perform other functions or duties as assigned by supervision, including interdepartmental duties. Perform all duties as assigned by the supervisor or Manager on duty.
