Job Summary: This job is responsible for performing heart cath exams at a technical level.  An incumbent assumes responsibility for the safe and proper operation of radiological equipment including equipment within the cath lab.  Essential Duties: Performs Heart Cath examinations, demonstrating competency and proficiency with equipment in the Heart Cath Lab. Participates in the ordering and inventory of equipment and supplies for the Heart Cath Lab. Delivers patient care while using diagnostic imaging equipment; acts as a liaison between the patient and the cardiologist. Utilizes equipment and accessories and employs techniques and procedures to protect the patient, self, and others from unnecessary radiation. Regularly performs basic nursing functions in regard to patient care. Performs general office duties including answering phones, scheduling, filing, and maintaining patient records. Actively participates in the training of other Cath Lab personnel. Recognizes that continuing education is vital to maintaining and advancing the profession.  Keeps radiology skills current demonstrating evidence of continuing education to include department meetings, individualized learning opportunities from cardiologists, and related classes.
