The Recruiter is the sole point of contact for questions about this position.SUMMARY:The Senior Chemical Process Engineer oversees all chemical engineering for new product introductions and plant process harmonization with respect to slab stock and tank farm areas. Helps establish and maintain process excellence and technology transfer from R&D to productionESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Primary duties and responsibilities include the following, however, Management reserves the right to assign or reassign other appropriate duties to this job at any time.Follow all safety guidelines and participate as a fully-empowered team member to achieve organization-wide goal of zero incidents.Assist with implementation of new product launches at all facilities.Implement and maintain all process engineering documents.Continuously improve material usage through data analysis and corrective action.Work with R&D on new formulas and materials.Documents processes and develops process specs.Work with R&D to perform trials as needed.Review and analyze all lab data to ensure product quality.Maintain high condition standards in department with preventative maintenance.Conduct Root Cause Analysis for continuous improvement, DOE, Six Sigma, Green or Black Belt PreferredSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NoneQUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be capable of performing each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.5 or more years supervising technical staff5 or more years flexible slabstock experience is preferredExperience with C02 foam machines are preferredProcess optimization, quality utilization and costPlan analytical procedures using DOE for complex analysis. Collaborate with QC, Mfg and R&D as needed to validate and implement changes, including revision of processes.Lean Operations and Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or higher; proficiency applying statistical tools.Excellent leadership, negotiation, organizational and analytical skills. Ability to summarize and transform data into action plans is a must and complete reports from analysis of processes.Proven ability to deliver on-time, on cost in a performance environmentReaction chemistry or experience in related polymer industries is highly desiredWorking knowledge of dispersions a plus.Intermediate knowledge of PC usage required to include using Word, Excel, Microsoft Windows, and data entry operations.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, technical documents, and machine manuals.Working knowledge of machine tools, electrical power distribution and plant utility systems.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, plus five to seven years of directly related experience.Must have demonstrated experience implementing new products and improving slabstock chemical utilization.
