Founded in 2008 by a group of seasoned transportation professionals, we are a Big Data analytics start-up that leverages data to manage large private fleet costs. Since our conception, we have built a breakthrough business model that captures the unstructured data associated with all aspects of highway transportation equipment. We are currently in need of a Senior SQL Developer to join our team. This person should have 6-9 years of experience and have experience building, designing and maintaining databases.Top Reasons to Work with Us1. Top notch compensation and benefits packages.What You Will Be Doing- Lead the design, build, verify, implement and maintain the structure of databases to support company business needs including integration of vendor database solutions into data environment. - Accountable to establish the standards and processes around providing level 3 support for databases and tools. - Drive the life cycle of multiple database tools by enabling smooth upgrades and/or installation and support of new capabilities; establishment and implement a data architecture practice. - Accountable for creating, implementing and maintaining reusable project and system related documentation consistent with standards and procedures outlined in the data architecture approach to ensure data quality, availability and reliability. Accountable for the processes to ensure reuse, recovery and maintenance. - Review and verify new applications for their ability to be integrated into the environment – specifically around data. This includes design around security, maintainability, reliability, performance and metrics. - Develop standards around performance tuning, query optimization, tables and view advice, and use of DBMS tools and hardware capabilities (e.g. index tuning, keys, caching, buffer management). This includes vendor packages as well as in-house data sources. - Lead the development of a capacity planning function to properly identify needed hardware, software, database configuration / architecture to support application / business needs.What You Need for this Position- Excellent understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices. - Excellent understanding of, and experience with, server-client computing and relational database environments. Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience. - In-depth experience with data management and data processing flowcharting techniques. - Extensive knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices. - Excellent working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers.
