We are DFA-the premium provider of market opportunities for farmers and a value-added supplier of innovative dairy products and food components for customers around the world.This full time employee will oversee the daily operations pertaining to the Chemistry Laboratory. Responsibilities include observation and participation in chemical procedures, managing laboratory personnel, equipment, sample priority and workflow and continuous evaluation and enforcement of the quality policy. Additionally, this position serves to develop and validate methods for testing of various matrices using analytical and proximate equipment.Duties and Responsibilities:• Manage the Chemistry Laboratory:• Manage sample workflow for each technician to ensure all testing is complete in a timely manner.• Mentor and assists chemists in performing testing of customer samples.• Ensure staffing is adequate to address sample volume and maintain turnaround times.• Operate, troubleshoot, clean, calibrate/qualify, and maintain chemistry instruments and equipment.• Ensure the department is compliant with the Quality System:• Perform weekly department audit of records, LCS, LIMS entries, etc.• Assists in evaluation of the current Standard Operating Procedures, forms, and training aids.• Conducts work in a manner that is compliant with the Quality System and all ISO 17025 requirements.• Ensures all proficiency testing is complete and submitted on time.• Perform weekly audit of the laboratory written and electronic records and quality system. Communicate results.• Manages the Chemical Hygiene Plan and safety programs.• Accurately performs and documents equipment calibrations and preventative maintenance.• Manages internal control samples, testing, and records to ensure completeness.• Analyze customer food product samples for chemical analysis utilizing proximate and analytical techniques.• Review written and electronic records for completeness and validity of results.
